Happy November 5th Bridge Pledgers!

These are exciting times in Northfield! On November 13, 14 and 15 the Northfield Armory is going to be hoppin! So many people (approximately 1,200 so far) want to participate in our third annual Feed My Starving Children food-packing event that we have decided to increase our food-packing capacity from 250,000 meals to 300,000 meals. Increasing our capacity also raises our donation commitment to $51,000. Many local businesses and individuals are stepping up and making generous financial contributions. Just imagine, more than 800 children around the world, will not starve for the next year because of the caring people of our community. Now that's what you call positive global impact! November 13, Stitches for Peace, a group of St. Olaf knitters who use their talents and love of knitting for good causes, will be selling their goods at the St. Olaf Artisan Bazaar in Buntrock Commons.

November 24 at 6:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Habitat for Humanity is hosting a Volunteer Rally Night. If you are interested in learning more about this great organization and their myriad of volunteer opportunities, plan on attending this event. November 26 at 9 a.m. at the Northfield Golf Club, the Northfield Rotary Club is hosting their annual Turkey Trot 5k run. Burn some calories before the big feast and raise money for local and international philanthropic projects. Register online at northfieldrotary.org.

December 12 at 9 a.m. at the Armory, the 8th Annual Jingle Bell Run/Walk will take place. Get outside, get some exercise and improve your own health while raising money for the Healthfinders, a local organization which provides needed healthcare for uninsured and underinsured residents. December 19 is the Beaux Arts Ball at Carleton Great Hall. Celebrate the Northfield Arts Guild's 50th Anniversary and enjoy a fun-filled evening while raising money to support Arts Guild programs. Tickets are available at the Northfield Arts Guild office.

• The Salvation Army is looking for Kettle Coordinators and Bell Ringers.
• Northfield Middle School needs a Secretary of Ski Storage to help out on Mondays before school throughout ski season.
• Northfield Middle School needs tutors to help in Study Hall on Tuesdays between 9:55 and 10:45 a.m.
• Volunteer Drivers are needed to get a Sudanese woman, who is disabled, to and from ESL classes at the NCRC on Monday and Wednesday evenings and Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Marnie Thompson at the High School is coordinating volunteers willing to help this woman who is really motivated to learn English.
• Clients at Laura Baker always enjoy a Bingo or Craft Night. Volunteers looking for a fun group service activity can organize one of these popular and appreciated evenings. Interested volunteers should contact Jane Fenton at Laura Baker Services at 507-645-8866.
