America in Bloom Preparation!

Beginning this Saturday, May 17th, the Garden Club is looking for people with a heart for beautifying our town of Northfield in preparation for the America in Bloom competition in July as well as to make our community a cleaner and more beautiful place to be!

If you are interested in any small project such as weeding a community garden plot, picking up trash, beautifying a park, please contact Judy Code at codeo@ll.net

On Saturday, May 17th, meet at the Key on Water Street at 9:30 a.m. with shovels and gloves! If that does not work for you, watch for postings to come or contact Judy!

Come and help us provide Northfield's top Health and Fitness Fair for ages 50 and older!

-Tours of our Wellness Facility
-Free Drawings
We need volunteers to provide screenings such as blood pressure checks, cholestrol screening, fitness screenings, body fat analysis, fitness demo's, talks on health and fitness, etc in our 3rd Annual Health and Fitness Fair.
We need venders who are willing to provide healthy snacks, prizes for drawings and booths with health information.

Special Olympics Area 10 Track and Field Spring Games

The Special Olympics Area 10 Track and Field Games will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2008 from 8:30am-4:00pm at Carleton College Stadium. Over 250 Special Olympic Athletes from Southern Minnesota,including Northfield, will be competing in a variety of track and field events in order to qualify for the State Games in June.
We are looking for volunteers to help with set-up,to assist with the timing of athletes during competition, escorting athletes to their events, assistance in the award tent writing out winners ribbons, making award presentations, as well as clean-up. Volunteers will be given a volunteer t-shirt and lunch will be provided for anyone working 4 or more hours. Families are welcome to volunteer, but children must be 10 years of age or older and accompanied by an adult. Please specify if you are bringing a child with you to volunteer. Read more »

Volunteers Needed for Thursday's Table

The Northfield Community Action Center is launching a new community initiative to provide hot and healthy meals every Thursday to people in Northfield who are in transition and could benefit from a free, nutritious meal. The project, called Thursday’s Table, is being launched in April. This would be a terrific service project for existing Circles of Service or for a group looking to launch a new Circle of Service. Individual volunteers are also encouraged to participate. Volunteers are needed in several time slots between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. every Thursday.

Thursday’s Table was created out of the vision and energy of David Koenig and Don Sahling, two long-time Northfield community members. It has been embraced by the Northfield Community Action Center, the Northfield School District and the Northfield Senior Center. Read more »
